Happy Cat Lab Travels the World!

It’s been an amazing year for Catshrine. Our installation, Happy Cat Lab, has come back from touring China. For the past 7 months, it has been exhibited at Hebei Museum in Shijiazhuang, Shaanxi History Museum in Xi’an and the Chinese Museum of Women and Children in Beijing to over 100,000 people! Unreal. And now, thanks again to TIFF for including us in their digiPlayspace tour, Happy Cat Lab is currently being exhibited at the Minnesota Children’s Museum until August. Thank-you to TIFF for the opportunity to bring our installation to... Read The Rest →

Learning to ‘Stop’!

We spent this morning at TIFF leading a stop-motion workshop for 35 students. It was great to be invited to use our installation pieces from digiPlayspace. We rose to the challenge of instructing (and conducting) the large student body to create some wonderful Norman McLaren-esque stop-mo, and the students’ reactions while watching the playback was priceless. Big thanks to our awesome students and to Joel at TIFF for the invite to have The Magnificent Transmogrification Station... Read The Rest →

Stop-Moing at digiPlayspace

It’s been almost two weeks now, and nearly 1000 films later, the little kitten scientists are still relentlessly churning out weird animal-human hybrids over at TIFF’s digiPlayspace. Thanks to everybody who’s helped out, joined in on the fun, and shared ideas. The installation is now in the hands of the lovely TIFF facilitators. You can still catch the installation until April 21st! Make sure to bring a USB key if you want a copy of your film, and feel free to post it with an @catshrine on twitter/instagram! If you... Catshrine at TIFF’s digiPlayspace

Who’s never dreamed of growing crab claws engineered by kitten scientists? In late December, Catshrine was asked by TIFF to head an installation for TIFF Kids digiPlayspace. Our assignment was to design a host of elements that would facilitate the learning of basic pixelation/stop-motion principles, but where the participants are also IN the stop-motion animation. Using TIFF’s existing set-up, consisting of a large floor backdrop and a ceiling camera, we created The Magnificent Transmogrification Station. We thought, what better way to engage people than through therianthropy? The installation is a... Read The Rest →
